Winslow House

The Winslow House is a Prairie School residence in River Forest defined by strong horizontal lines, Roman brick walls, limestone accents, and a low-pitched roof that stretches across wide front terraces. The structure sits low to the ground, intentionally anchoring itself within the surrounding landscape.

The building was designed in 1893 as an architect's first independent commission after leaving a partnership with an established architectural firm. This residence marked the beginning of a new design movement in American residential architecture.
