Chauncey L. Williams Residence

The Chauncey L. Williams Residence is a single-family home with a steeply pitched roof and wide overhangs, set upon a shallow base of Roman brick and plaster. Natural boulders frame the arched entryway and line the property edge, creating a defined arrival experience.

Frank Lloyd Wright designed this house in 1895 as one of his earliest residential projects in the Chicago region. This work signaled a new direction in American domestic architecture and laid the groundwork for his later career.

The residence displays Japanese design influences in its forms and spatial arrangement, reflecting Wright's fascination with Japanese aesthetics. Visitors can notice these Eastern inspirations throughout the exterior details and interior layout.

The house is located on North Edgewood Place and can be viewed from outside to observe the architectural details. Access to the surrounding area is straightforward, allowing for a complete view of the design and natural landscape elements.
