Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, Cold War missile launch site in Pennington County, United States.
The facility consists of three sections: a visitor center, an underground launch control center Delta-01, and a missile silo Delta-09 with deactivated equipment.
The complex maintained nuclear missiles on constant alert for three decades until its deactivation following the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty in 1991.
The site educates visitors about nuclear deterrence strategies and military personnel responsibilities during a critical period of United States defense history.
The visitor center operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and provides guided tours of both the launch control facility and missile silo.
Visitors can observe an unarmed Minuteman missile inside an 80-foot-deep launch tube, which remains the last intact Minuteman II system in the country.
