Albert J. Zabriskie Farmhouse
Albert J. Zabriskie Farmhouse, Historic farmhouse in Paramus, United States.
The Albert J. Zabriskie Farmhouse is a stone building on East Ridgewood Avenue that displays traditional Dutch architectural elements and stone construction methods. The house was later converted into office spaces while keeping its original exterior appearance intact.
The farmhouse was built in 1805 using materials from an older family home. It remained in the Zabriskie family ownership through four generations before changing hands in 1924.
The farmhouse displays Dutch building styles brought by early settlers and still visible in its appearance today. The stone walls and construction methods reflect the craftsmanship that was practiced in this region for generations.
The building sits east of New Jersey Route 17 and is easy to spot from the exterior even though it now serves as office space. The site is best visited during daylight to properly appreciate the stone architecture and construction details.
The house was not built from scratch but uses stones and materials salvaged from another Zabriskie home that once stood across the road. This reuse of older materials makes it a visible example of practical construction practices of the era.
