The Alvord House stands as a two-story fieldstone structure measuring 30 by 52 feet, with brick lintels and a gable roof at 399 Marsden Road.
Built in 1835 by salt industry businessman Dioclesian Alvord, this residence represents the early development of American rural agriculture in upstate New York.
The property transformed from a private residence to a community center within Fred Sehr Memorial Park, hosting local gatherings and events throughout the year.
The structure includes timber framing, two inside end chimneys on the east and west sides, a wood cornice, and a cellar underneath the main building.
The Onondaga Pottery Company owned this property for forty years, during which their employees lived in the house until operations ceased in the 1960s.
