Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music

Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music is a music education facility on about 100 acres of land in Nelson that offers various performance spaces and teaching areas. The Louise Shonk Kelly Concert Barn serves as the main venue for concerts and other musical events throughout the year.

The center was founded in 1971 and grew from a small music school into an internationally recognized institution for chamber music. This growth shows how the organization strengthened its importance for music education and performances over the decades.

The center brings together musicians from different backgrounds who work and learn from each other during summer sessions in small groups. Visitors experience how people of different generations play and exchange ideas together.

During summer sessions, approximately 60 participants are divided into chamber ensembles based on playing level rather than age. This arrangement allows people of different generations to perform together and learn from each other.
