Barlow Planetarium

The Barlow Planetarium is a stargazing venue at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley with a large projection dome for sky shows. The hall seats roughly a hundred visitors and features specialized equipment for detailed displays of the night sky.

The facility opened in 1998 and was at that time Wisconsin's first major planetarium. It was named after a businessman who had assembled a substantial mineral collection.

This facility draws families and school groups from across the region who gather to explore astronomy and space together. The shared experience under the dome brings people together around a common interest in understanding the night sky.

A visit requires no special preparation, but arriving early is wise since shows tend to fill up. The facility sits on the university campus and is easy to locate.

The venue uses an advanced laser system and an extremely powerful sound setup to fully immerse viewers in the presentations. This technical equipment allows celestial movements to be shown with great precision.
