222 Building, High-rise building in downtown Appleton, United States.

The 222 Building is an 11-story high-rise in downtown Appleton that dominates the local skyline with its vertical form. It houses extensive office space and functions as a major commercial anchor in the city's professional district.

The building was completed in 1952 as headquarters for the Aid Association for Lutherans during a period of business expansion in Appleton. This construction reflected the city's growth as a commercial center in mid-twentieth century Wisconsin.

The 222 Building represents mid-twentieth century commercial architecture and maintains its position as a central feature of Appleton's professional community.

The building sits on West College Avenue in the heart of downtown, making it easy to reach by foot or public transit. The area around it connects well to other downtown destinations and services.

In 1991, an elevator malfunction trapped a passenger for more than 50 hours inside the building. This incident sparked legal action and raised questions about safety systems in the structure.
