During the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps built stone structures around the lake. These structures formed the foundation for the recreational facilities that visitors use today.

Following a major renovation in 2012, the lake was restocked with multiple fish species including walleye and muskie. The improved water quality turned it into a popular destination for anglers from the surrounding area.
