Yurubí National Park

Yurubí National Park is a protected area in the Sierra de Aroa featuring cloud forests and mountain ranges with dense vegetation. The terrain spreads across roughly 23,670 hectares (58,500 acres) with elevations reaching 1,850 meters (6,070 feet), creating varied landscapes throughout.

The park was created in 1960 to protect the water basin supplying San Felipe city with fresh water. This conservation mission has guided its management and purpose since its establishment.

The park serves as a vital water source for the surrounding communities, shaping how people depend on its forests for their daily lives. Local residents recognize the forests here as essential to their survival and well-being.

Temperatures range from about 12 to 26 degrees Celsius (54 to 79 degrees Fahrenheit) and shift depending on altitude and time of day. Bring layered clothing to adjust comfortably as conditions change throughout your visit.

The area shelters a remarkable diversity of animals including 68 bird species and 64 bat species alongside numerous carnivores and primates. This exceptional range of life forms makes it a special place for observing forest ecosystems and wildlife interactions.
