Fortín de La Galera

Fortín de La Galera is a military fort located on the highest hill of Juan Griego Bay, offering strategic views over the water and harbor. The site includes remains of fortifications and buildings that once served as coastal defense.

The fort was built in 1811 on orders from the Margarita Patriotic Council and served as a defense point against maritime attacks during Venezuela's independence war. This role as a protective installation shaped the early development of the coastal region.
