Playa Caribe, Beach at La Boquita in Margarita Island, Venezuela
Playa Caribe is a white sand beach on the western coast of Margarita Island near Juangriego, protected by a rocky islet offshore. Several restaurants and food vendors line the waterfront, and the shoreline stretches for roughly 1200 meters with gently sloping entry to the water.
The area formed part of Venezuela's colonial-era maritime defense system, with the nearby Fortin de La Galera built to protect against pirates and foreign raids. The coastline still reflects this heritage of guarding shipping routes and settlements.
Local restaurants along the waterfront serve traditional Venezuelan seafood dishes, and visitors can see how the community uses this space for fishing and daily meals.
The beach is accessible by bus from Juangriego and by following the road past Fortin de La Galera on foot or by vehicle. The protected cove has moderate waves, making it suitable for swimming and family visits.
The rocky islet offshore creates a natural wave break that makes swimming safer, and many visitors take boat trips to explore or circle around this small formation. The islet adds a distinctive feature to the beach landscape that guides the eye across the water.
