Finkenberger Almbahn, Cable car system in Finkenberg, Austria
The Finkenberger Almbahn is a cable car system that carries passengers from Finkenberg village to Penkenjoch ridge at 1,760 meters (5,774 feet). The ride offers views of the Zillertal Alps and Hintertux Glacier.
Development of Penkenjoch began in 1968 with the establishment of Finkenberger Almbahnen GesmbH, which initially operated two double chairlifts to reach the summit.
The mountain station features the Capella Granata, a modern chapel designed as a granite block that reflects the geological character of Zillertal Valley.
The cable car is easily accessible from Finkenberg village and the ascent takes just a few minutes with good views throughout the journey. Once at the top, you will find restaurants, hiking trails, and play areas for children.
At the mountain station is Pepis Kinderland, featuring an eight-meter-tall wooden bear structure where children can climb and play inside. This unusual play structure makes the site popular with families traveling with young children.
