Waidring is a mountain municipality in Kitzbühel district that spreads across 63 square kilometers at 778 meters elevation. The village features traditional farmhouses with wooden construction and sits near where Tirol, Salzburg, and Bavaria meet.
The settlement was first recorded in 1147 under the name Waitheringen and grew into an important community. Its location at the borders of three regions made it significant in Tyrolean history.
