Wildeneck castle ruins

Wildeneck castle ruins sit at 720 meters elevation on the eastern slope of Koloman's hill between Mondsee and Irrsee lakes, with surviving stone walls and foundations. The remaining structures reveal the scale and layout of this medieval fortification through their preserved masonry.

Founded in 1140, the castle served as an administrative center for the Mondsee and St. Wolfgang regions for centuries. Its abandonment in the late 1500s marked the beginning of its decline into the ruins visible today.
