The remaining stone structures of Wildeneck castle stand at 720 meters elevation on the eastern side of Koloman's hill between Mondsee and Irrsee lakes.
Built in 1140, Wildeneck castle operated as a governmental center for the regions around Mondsee and St. Wolfgang until its abandonment in the late 16th century.
