Spannagel Cave

The Spannagel Cave network stretches for 12.5 kilometers through calcite marble formations within the Central Alps at an elevation of 2,660 meters.

Geological processes during the Jurassic period created the marble vein where the cave system formed, revealing millions of years of Alpine mountain development.

The cave serves as an educational center where guides share knowledge about Alpine geology, hydrology, and cave fauna with visitors throughout the year.

Visitors can reach the cave entrance by taking a gondola to Tuxer Fernerhaus, followed by a 10-minute walk to Spannagelhaus for guided tours.

Natural formations inside include perfectly round glacial stones, marble layers, erosion cauldrons, and mineral crystals that document geological transformations.
