The Dreimarkstein reaches an elevation of 454 meters and marks the intersection between the Viennese districts of Döbling, Hernals, and the Lower Austrian municipality of Weidling.
The mountain's name originates from Old High German 'marca' meaning border area, first documented in the 1818 cadastral map as 'dreymarkstein' to indicate boundary convergence.
The mountain forms part of the European long-distance path E4, connecting local hiking networks through the Vienna Woods natural region.
The Wiener Höhenstraße road passes below the summit, while the Wienerwald restaurant Häuserl am Roan provides food services to visitors near the peak.
The summit offers multiple approach routes including an easy 6.14-kilometer loop from Weidlingbach and paths through local vineyards with views over Vienna.
