Giggijochbahn, Gondola lift in Sölden, Austria
The Giggijochbahn is a gondola lift in the Ötztal that connects Sölden to higher mountain terrain. The system overcomes more than 900 meters of elevation and provides access to hiking trails and ski slopes.
The current system dates to 2016 and replaced an earlier cable car that operated from 1998. The upgrade was needed to handle increasing traffic in the Sölden ski area.
The lift serves as an essential connection point for winter sports enthusiasts and summer visitors exploring the mountain trails of the Tyrol region.
The journey takes roughly seven and a half minutes, with cabins departing at short intervals throughout the day. Wear good shoes because once you reach the top, you will find multiple trails with varying difficulty levels.
The summit area offers views of several of the highest Alpine peaks, including some that exceed 3500 meters. Those with time can undertake longer hikes from there that pass through less visited mountain zones.
