The Sesselbahn Plabutsch was a chairlift system in Styria that connected the Gösting district with the Plabutsch mountain, spanning approximately 825 meters of cable. The installation rose 331 meters in elevation, running from the base station to the upper terminal.
The system was built in 1954 and operated until its closure in 1971, transporting more than a million passengers during its run. A mountain hotel opened in 1966 to take advantage of the improved access that the lift provided.
The lift represented a significant advancement in mountain accessibility for the region, enabling both locals and tourists to reach higher elevations with minimal effort.
Only the lower station remains today as a visible remnant of the original system in the landscape. The location remains accessible to visitors interested in seeing this piece of mountain transportation history.
