Karlsbader Hütte, Mountain refuge at 2260 meters in Tristach, Austria
Karlsbader Hütte is a mountain refuge situated at 2260 meters near Laserzee lake in the Dolomites region. The building accommodates around 90 people and contains several wood-panelled rooms including dining spaces.
The shelter was founded in 1888 by the German Alpine Association and has been a destination for mountain enthusiasts in East Tyrol ever since. Over more than a century, it has hosted thousands of hikers and witnessed the history of Alpine mountaineering.
The hut serves as a gathering place where hikers from around the world meet and share meals together. Local dishes and regional wines are offered, creating a sense of connection within the mountain community.
You can reach it with a 2-hour hike from the Dolomitenhütte car park or longer walks starting from the villages of Tristach and Leisach. Credit card payments are accepted at the facility, so cash is not your only option.
Nearby stands the Laserzwand, a rock face rising over 1300 meters with numerous climbing routes of varying difficulty. This wall draws climbers who want to test their abilities on the exposed rock.
