Mount Hope, Granite mountain in Victoria, Australia
Mount Hope rises to 202 meters above sea level, featuring massive granite blocks spread across 126 hectares within the Nature Conservation Reserve.
Explorer Thomas Livingstone Mitchell became the first European to climb Mount Hope in 1836, discovering two new plant species during his expedition.
The mountain holds significance for naturalists and geologists, with Ludwig Becker documenting diverse insect populations among the granite formations in 1860.
Visitors can access the mountain through an unsealed parking area at the base, with designated picnic tables available for outdoor meals.
Mount Hope Station, established in 1845, managed 100,000 sheep across 77,000 acres, making it one of the largest pastoral operations in colonial Victoria.
