Sarajevo Red Line, Memorial in Sarajevo
The Sarajevo Red Line was a memorial event held in the city. Over eleven thousand red chairs were lined up along a main street and filled the public space.
The project was created for the 20th anniversary of the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. The event marked a significant date in the city's recent history.
The red chairs served as a visible expression of mourning and remembrance throughout the city. Visitors could walk past them and grasp the scale of loss in a direct way.
The best way to experience this memorial is to walk through the street at your own pace. You do not need to register in advance and can pass by at any time.
The installation was not permanent but a temporary art display that was later removed. This temporary nature made the event a special historical moment that people could actively experience.
