Temse Bridge, Steel bridge over Scheldt River in Temse, Belgium
The Temse Bridge consists of two parallel structures spanning the Scheldt River, with the newer section measuring 374 meters in length.
The first bridge at this location, constructed in 1870 under the design of engineer Gustave Eiffel, included toll paths for pedestrians and animals.
The bridge connects the communities of Temse and Bornem, forming an essential link between the regions of East Flanders and Antwerp.
The bridge carries the N16 road from Sint-Niklaas to Mechelen, featuring dedicated lanes for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
This crossing represents the last bridge over the Scheldt before the river flows toward the North Sea, with only tunnels existing downstream.
