Sint-Pieterskapel, Romanesque chapel near Sint-Gummarus Church in Lier, Belgium.
The Sint-Pieterskapel stands with stone walls and medallions of saints painted on its wooden ceiling, displaying traditional Romanesque architectural elements.
Built around 1225, the chapel replaced a wooden structure from the 8th century and underwent reconstruction in 1922 following destruction during World War I.
The stained glass windows within the chapel depict scenes from Saint Gummarus's life, while an empty tomb behind the altar marks his memorial.
Located in central Lier, the chapel opens daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering free admission to visitors throughout the year.
Every year before November 30th, the bells of Lier ring at 7:00 PM to commemorate a Norman raid when attackers lost their sight.
