Grzęda Kopylska

Grzęda Kopylska is a glacial ridge system in southern Belarus formed by morainic deposits. The terrain displays a series of distinct hills that rise above the surrounding flat landscape, creating varied elevation changes across the formation.

The ridge system formed during glacial periods when ice sheets pushed and accumulated rock and sediment across the terrain. Over time, multiple layers of sedimentary deposits built up the internal structure visible today.

Local residents and visitors use the ridges for hiking and outdoor activities, with the elevated terrain serving as a landmark visible across the flat surrounding plains. The formation's prominence in the landscape makes it a natural gathering point for those exploring southern Belarus.

The best time to explore is during warmer months when trails are more accessible and the terrain is easier to navigate. Sturdy footwear is important since the hillside terrain has uneven surfaces and paths may be unpaved.

The landscape displays strong elevation changes with height differences exceeding 80 meters between valleys and ridges. This dramatic topography makes the formation stand out distinctly within the generally flat East European Plain.
