Tenerife airport disaster, Airport disaster in Tenerife, Spain

The Tenerife airport disaster is the deadliest accident in aviation history.

This tragic event occurred on March 27, 1977 and involved two Boeing 747s operated by Pan American World Airways and KLM.

The disaster led to major changes in international aviation safety, including new requirements for cockpit (CRM) procedures.

There are two memorials commemorating the victims of the disaster located near Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport).

It remains the deadliest aviation accident in history on land.
