Santa Pola

Santa Pola is a coastal town along the Mediterranean with several beaches and an active fishing port at its center. The municipality spreads across the shore and includes a town center with markets, restaurants, and seafront facilities.

The area began as a Roman port called Portus Ilicitanus before becoming a strategic settlement after a defensive fortress was built in the 16th century. This castle protected the coast from raids and shaped settlement patterns.
