Ganekogorta

Ganekogorta is a mountain summit reaching approximately 1000 meters between Llodio and the Bilbao metropolitan area in Basque Country. Its northern slopes descend gradually toward urban settlements, while other sides show steeper terrain.

This peak is part of a group of ancient Bocinero summits that historically served as communication and gathering points in the Biscay region. This long tradition underscores the strategic role these mountains held for local communities.

The name comes from the Basque language and reflects how deeply rooted local people are in their mountain territory. Walking around, you notice how this peak is woven into the identity of nearby towns and communities.
