Sobrado Abbey, Cistercian monastery in Sobrado, Spain.

The monastery contains three cloisters and maintains medieval structures including a kitchen with a large central chimney from 1250.

Founded in 952 by Count Hermenegildo Aloitez and his wife Paterna, the monastery transformed into a Cistercian institution in 1142.

The monastery stands along the Camino del Norte route to Santiago de Compostela, offering accommodations to modern pilgrims following ancient paths.

The monastery provides sleeping arrangements for 110 visitors, including a monastic guesthouse for 71 people and additional dormitory spaces.

The resident monks generate income through cattle farming for milk production and create handmade jams within the monastery grounds.
