Palmitos Park, Botanical garden and aviary in Maspalomas, Spain

The 20-hectare park contains 1,500 exotic birds from 230 species, along with an extensive collection of palm trees and subtropical plants.

Following devastating forest fires that damaged 65 percent of the facility in 2007, Palmitos Park reopened its doors to visitors in August 2008.

The park maintains breeding programs for endangered species and provides educational initiatives about wildlife conservation for local school children.

Located in southern Gran Canaria, Palmitos Park operates daily from 10:00 to 18:00, with combined tickets available for nearby Aqualand Maspalomas.

The facility houses Europe's largest butterfly enclosure and features the most extensive orchid collection in the Canary Islands.
