Igeldo lighthouse, Lighthouse on Monte Igeldo, San Sebastián, Spain
Located on the slope of Monte Igeldo, this 13-meter tall lighthouse directs maritime traffic along the rocky coastline of San Sebastián.
Civil engineer Manuel Peironcely constructed the lighthouse in 1855 to prevent accidents as vessels navigated near the dangerous cliffs.
The lighthouse forms part of a network of five beacons that guide maritime traffic through the waters of the Basque coast.
The lighthouse employs a second-order Fresnel lens with a focal height of 130 meters, providing visibility up to 26 nautical miles.
From its position at coordinates 43°19'21"N and 2°0'37"W, the lighthouse illuminates the Bay of Biscay and North Atlantic Ocean.
