Funicular de Igueldo

The Funicular de Igueldo is a cable railway that carries people up a steep slope from the lower station to the mountain's summit. The journey connects the bay level with a high viewpoint overlooking the waters below.

The railway opened in 1912 as the first mechanical transport to reach the mountain's top. This system shaped the connection between the city and the summit for over a century.

The ride leads to an amusement park with traditional wooden attractions and a historical tower. Visitors can experience old-fashioned rides and enjoy views from above the bay.

Tickets are available at the lower station near the El Peine del Viento sculpture, with regular daytime departures. The climb takes only a few minutes from bottom to top.

The original machinery and wooden carriages from 1912 still operate on the same track today. These vehicles have maintained their initial construction and design without major changes.
