Castell de Sa Punta de n'Amer, Defensive tower in Punta de n'Amer, Mallorca, Spain.
Castell de Sa Punta de n'Amer is a sandstone tower positioned between Cala Millor and Sa Coma on Mallorca, built on an elevated location. The structure features a moat and a spiral staircase that leads to the top.
The tower was built in 1695 following a design by architect Martín Gil de Gaínza y Etxagüe. It served as part of a defensive network that protected the coast between Porto Cristo and Cap Roig.
The tower displays military construction methods from the 17th century and preserves its original architectural details in the stonework. You can still see how defenders used this location and organized the space.
You can reach the tower on foot, by bike, or by car from the coastal side with ease. A museum on the grounds is open to visitors throughout the year.
The site holds remains of a prehistoric talayot settlement and bunkers from the Spanish Civil War. These layers reveal different periods of military history in one location.
