La Bañeza is a small town in León Province, located in northern Spain. The town center organizes around Plaza Mayor, where the town hall and the two main churches of San Salvador and Santa María stand.
The town developed in the 9th century from the merging of two smaller settlements in the region. This origin shaped how the place grew and developed over the centuries.
