Sotillo de la Adrada, municipality of Spain
Sotillo de la Adrada is a municipality in the province of Ávila in southeastern Spain, near the border with Castile-La Mancha. The town sits on the edge of the Sierra de Gredos, surrounded by wooded slopes and the open valleys of the Tiétar lowlands.
The settlement has medieval roots and was long shaped by farming and livestock traditions across the Tiétar Valley. In 1642, Sotillo formally received the title of villa, which granted it its own local administration.
The name Sotillo comes from the Spanish word for small wood, pointing to the forested land around the town. Along the streets, you can spot traditional facades and balconies in the style of the Tiétar Valley, which gives the place a recognizable local character.
The town is easy to reach by car on regional roads and is also served by bus connections from Ávila. Once there, you will find shops, restaurants, and accommodation options that make both short and longer stays straightforward.
The Fuente de los Cinco Caños in the town center is a public fountain with five water outlets that has served as a meeting point for generations. The number of outlets was not accidental and shows how carefully water supply was planned in this mountain area.
