Lerma

The municipality of Lerma stands on an elevated position at 849 meters, commanding views across the Arlanza river valley in northern Spain.

Between 1598 and 1618, the Duke of Lerma transformed the medieval settlement into an administrative center through construction of the Ducal Palace and numerous religious buildings.

The Collegiate Church of San Pedro contains a preserved 1616 organ, representing the earliest examples of Spanish musical instruments still in existence.

The Ducal Palace now functions as a Parador hotel, providing accommodation for visitors exploring the Province of Burgos region.

An elevated passageway connects the Ducal Palace to the Collegiate Church, allowing direct access between the secular and religious centers of power.
