Collegiate church of San Pedro in Lerma

The Collegiate Church of San Pedro in Lerma is a Baroque building with a restrained exterior and a four-part tower holding an arch, statue of Saint Paul, clock, and bell chamber. Inside, a lavishly decorated altar from 1690 features twisted columns and ornamental details in gold, creating a striking contrast with the simple facade.

Construction began in 1613 and was completed by 1617, following a papal decision in 1606 to elevate the site to collegiate status. This honor prompted the creation of a new, more prominent structure to replace the previous modest parish building.

The church is named after Saint Peter, one of the most important apostles in Christianity. Visitors can attend regular services and observe how the local community gathers here to worship together.
