Zurriola beach, Surfing beach in Gros district, San Sebastián, Spain

Zurriola is an 800-meter sandy beach at the mouth of the Urumea River where consistent waves form throughout the year. The shore sits within the Gros neighborhood framework, with a waterfront promenade and multiple entry points connecting the street to the sand.

The beach was once a simple coastal area until late 20th-century renovations transformed it completely. This development turned it into one of the region's main water sports destinations.

The beach has become the center of San Sebastián's surf scene, drawing enthusiasts who share waves and knowledge daily. It functions as a social hub where people from different backgrounds come together around a shared passion for the ocean.

The beach has changing facilities, showers, lifeguards, and equipment rentals spread across several points along the promenade. Access from the Gros neighborhood is straightforward, with different ramps and stairs leading down to the sand.

At the western end of the shoreline sits the Kursaal Congress Centre, featuring two striking glass cubes that light up at night and reflect on the water. These distinctive structures create an unusual contrast with the natural beach setting.
