Ilesia de San Chuan de Busa

The Iglesia de San Chuan de Busa is a medieval church in Oliván with a rectangular nave covered by a wooden two-pitched roof. The structure features an incomplete apse and no bell tower on its exterior.

Ramón Guillén built this structure between 1060 and 1070 as part of a medieval settlement that no longer exists. The building stands as important evidence of early medieval construction in the region.

The entrance displays Arabic Kufic script with the inscription 'la ilaha illa Allah', showing how Christian and Islamic influences mixed in this region. You can see how different religious traditions were respected in the same sacred space.

The building sits near the road connecting Lárrede with Oliván in the Serrablo region. Access is easiest by following local roads and using nearby landmarks for navigation.

The builder studied techniques from the nearby San Pedro de Lárrede but deliberately chose not to complete stone vaults. This practical decision helped avoid structural difficulties during construction.
