Turia Garden, Linear garden in Valencia, Spain.
Turia Garden extends for 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) through Valencia, following the path of the former riverbed with a width of 160 meters (525 feet). The site includes paths, playgrounds, sports fields, and planted zones that wind between the city's bridges.
After a devastating flood in 1957, the city diverted the Turia River outside the urban area. The empty riverbed was converted into an urban park over the following decades.
The former riverbed now forms a continuous green corridor used by cyclists and joggers, while families picnic on the lawns. Several bridges span the sunken park and connect neighborhoods once divided by the river.
Visitors reach the site through numerous entry points with ramps and find public restrooms at regular intervals. Parking areas lie along both sides of the garden.
At Gulliver Park, children climb over a 70-meter (230-foot) figure representing the character from Jonathan Swift's novel. The sculpture doubles as a playground with slides and ramps.
