Monasterio de San Jerónimo estilton, Renaissance monastery in central Granada, Spain

The monastery features two cloisters with semicircular arches, including an orange tree garden and seven doorways leading to different chapels.

Construction began before Granada's Christian conquest, with the Catholic Monarchs relocating it to its current location in 1504 under architect Diego de Siloe.

The monastery houses the tomb of El Gran Capitan and his wife at the crossing, marked by an ornate mannerist altarpiece in the main chapel.

The monastery opens daily with winter hours from 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, charging adults 5 euros for entry with guided tours available.

The church stands as the first in the world consecrated to the Immaculate Conception of Mary, featuring Renaissance decorations and humanistic sculptures.

Granada, between Moorish palaces, secret courtyards, and Andalusian art

Grenada is a city experienced like a poem. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada, it combines Muslim heritage, Catholic fervor, and Andalusian rhythm. Behind ochre facades lie shaded patios, fountains, mosaics, and carved arches that tell eight centuries of history. The Alhambra watches over the city like a stone dream, the Albaicín district unfolds its white alleys, and the gardens of Generalife recall the delicacy of Nasrid rulers. At every turn, a bell tower follows a minaret, an Arab market opens onto a baroque cathedral. Granada is as much an open-air museum as a living place, where flamenco still escapes from the Sacromonte caves. Between spirituality, art, and jasmine fragrance, the Andalusian city retains an elusive, almost mystical beauty.
