Zarautz

Zarautz is a wide sandy beach along the Basque coastline that stretches for several kilometers and consistently offers good waves for water sports. The beach connects seamlessly with the town behind it, where restaurants, shops, and accommodations sit directly along the shores.

The area began as a small fishing settlement and took its name from the noble family that settled here early on. In the 19th century it grew into a popular holiday destination for wealthy families and has continued to develop since then.

At one end of the beach stands the Narros Palace, a manor house from the early 16th century with preserved gardens. This historical building serves as a visual landmark and reminds visitors of the long history of this place.
