Elizondo, Administrative capital in Baztan Valley, Spain

Elizondo sits on both sides of the Baztan River at roughly 200 meters elevation in northern Navarre and serves as the administrative heart of Baztan Valley. The town encompasses fifteen settlements within its jurisdiction.

British military forces established a command center in Elizondo during the 1813 Battle of the Pyrenees, marking a significant military episode in the region's past. This period left a lasting imprint on the valley's historical memory.

The Valley House in Elizondo holds the city council and general assembly for all fifteen Baztan communities, serving as their shared meeting place. Residents gather here to discuss local matters and make decisions affecting the entire valley.

Elizondo functions as the primary service hub for Baztan Valley, offering essential facilities and amenities to residents of surrounding communities. Visitors will find shops, restaurants, and other conveniences that support a comfortable stay in the area.
