Sant Joan de Boí

The Sant Joan de Boí church stands at an elevation of 1260 meters, featuring a basilical layout and a prominent bell tower in the Pyrenees mountains.

Built in the 11th century, this Romanesque structure represents the architectural developments of medieval Catalonia alongside other churches in the Vall de Boí region.

The interior walls display medieval murals depicting various scenes, including The Stoning of Saint Stephen, The Minstrels, and The Bestiary compositions.

Located at Plaça del Treio in Boí, the church maintains regular visiting hours and provides parking facilities at the village entrance.

Recent restoration efforts darkened the interior spaces to replicate the 12th-century atmosphere while reproducing fresco fragments preserved at the MNAC museum.
