S'Agaró

S'Agaró is a residential enclave situated between two sandy beaches along the Costa Brava coast with Mediterranean-style houses. The buildings sit about 30 feet (10 meters) above sea level and overlook the water on both sides.

An industrial entrepreneur bought the land in 1916 and hired a prominent architect to design a summer retreat in the style of the era. The construction shaped what you see today and reflected architectural trends of early 20th-century Catalonia.

The architecture throughout this place reflects Noucentisme, a Catalan movement of the early 1900s that drew from classical design principles. White walls and terracotta roofs create a unified look across all buildings and streets.

Access to this enclave is controlled through a single entrance point, so most visitors should arrange entry beforehand. Walking along the coastal trails nearby offers a way to explore the area without passing through the main gate.

The local church holds Gothic elements and medieval tombs that were brought here from other historical sites in the region. This mix makes the sacred space an unexpected keeper of artifacts from places far beyond.
