Platja de Port d'Aro

Platja de Port d'Aro is a sandy beach featuring coarse sand that stretches from the Ridaura river to the marina's sea wall. The shore runs along the Mediterranean coast with direct exposure to open water and good beach depth.

Port d'Aro Marina was developed in the late 1900s, transforming this stretch of the Costa Brava into a nautical hub. The marina brought structural changes that drew sailors and boating enthusiasts to the area.

The beach functions as a meeting place where local fishermen work alongside visitors, blending traditional maritime practices with contemporary leisure activities.

The beach provides lifeguard services, restroom facilities, and dining options near the yacht club area. Entry to the water is gradual, making it suitable for swimmers of different abilities, though wind conditions can be variable along this open bay.

Cormorants regularly dive into the waters, staying submerged for long periods while hunting for fish. These seabirds are a common sight for those watching the bay, adding a natural rhythm to the beach experience.
