Edifici Gas Natural

Edifici Gas Natural is an 86-meter-tall office building with 20 floors and a V-shaped footprint located in the historic Barceloneta neighborhood. The glass facade creates shifting visual effects depending on time of day and light conditions, making the exterior appear to transform throughout the day.

The structure was completed in 2008 on the site of Spain's first gas production facility, which operated for over 160 years before being replaced. This location connects Barcelona's industrial past with its transformation into a modern business center.

The building represents a conversation between Barcelona's traditional urban forms and the needs of contemporary business through its unconventional shape. It shows how architects tried to make a modern office structure feel connected to its historic surroundings rather than isolated from them.
