Ermita de Santa Ana

The Ermita de Santa Ana is a hermitage with a polygonal portico featuring eight equal sides and three semi-circular arches on each facade, topped by a hemispherical dome. The building displays a geometric, symmetrical design with balanced architectural proportions.

Construction began in 1772 under architect Torcuato Cayón de la Vega, replacing a windmill that previously occupied the site. The project reflected a shift toward religious development in the area during the 1700s.

Inside, visitors find a sculpture by Genoese artist Domingo Giscardi showing Saint Anne holding the Virgin Mary. This religious artwork sits on a small altar near the entrance and draws people who come to pay their respects.

The hermitage opens for visitors every Tuesday and welcomes additional guests during the feast of Saint Anne on July 26. Plan your visit around these times if you want to explore the interior.
