Edificio Bonín

Edificio Bonín is a three-story modernist building in Vigo featuring a rounded corner topped by a dome. Regular window intervals with balconies framed by pillars create a rhythmic pattern across its facade.

Jenaro de la Fuente Domínguez designed this building for Manuel Rodríguez Rodríguez, who returned from Guayaquil with substantial wealth to invest in his hometown. The result reflects the modernist ideals that were reshaping Spanish cities in the early 1900s.

The initials M and A honoring Manuel Rodríguez and Angelina Bonín are carved into decorative capitals across the second floor. These letters reveal who lived here and remind visitors of the family's connection to this corner of the city.

The building sits at the intersection of Areal and Oporto streets, maintaining its original exterior structure. Its combination of commercial and residential spaces makes it an active part of everyday city life while remaining accessible for viewing.

Each floor displays distinct ornamental details, from monstrous face masks to garlands and delicate stone carvings. These hand-crafted flourishes demonstrate the skilled workmanship that shaped this structure in the early 1900s.
