The palace features two courtyards, including an original Renaissance one and a circular patio with a semi-spherical glass roof.
Construction began in 1515 under Alonso Pimentel, Count of Benavente, and the palace served as residence for King Felipe II in 1559.
Since 1990, the building houses the Library of Castile-Leon, maintaining its Renaissance facade with stone entrance arch and Pimentel family shields.
Located at Plaza Trinidad 2, the palace functions as a public library after extensive reconstruction following damage from fires in 1667 and 1716.
The structure incorporates modern materials like prefabricated concrete and metal elements while preserving its Renaissance architectural elements.
